The first two 2022 Tundra pickup trucks have been sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, for $1.25 million. The earnings will go to the Toyota U.S. Paralympic Fund.
The Toyota Tundra Capstone with VIN 001 marked the debut of the new, range-topping Capstone trim level and sold for $700,000. The off-road-focused Tundra TRD Pro, with VIN 002, sold for $550,000.
The Toyota U.S. Paralympic Fund is a program that has helped more than 430 current and hopeful U.S. Paralympic athletes pursue their dreams. With this latest contribution from the Barrett-Jackson auction, the Fund has now raised nearly $5 million.
“These funds will go directly to help Paralympic athletes train, have proper equipment and have access to the best coaching. This type of support is life-changing, and I cannot thank Toyota enough for helping me go more places than I’ve ever imagined,” said U.S. Paralympian Kaitlyn Verfuerth.
The 2022 Toyota Tundra represents a major step forward for the nameplate. It features an all-new hybrid powertrain capable of towing up to 12,000 pounds as well as an all-new Capstone trim level that elevates the truck’s luxury to new heights.
