The 2021 Toyota Supra was named a Car and Driver 10Best, a prestigious honor which the sports car has now won two years in a row following its 2020 resurgence. The 2021 Supra proved it offered enough performance, versatility, and technology to warrant the sought-after title.
Car and Driver is a popular automotive magazine. Its 10Best award looks at vehicles priced no higher than $90,000 along with previous 10Best winners to determine the year’s best cars with a stated focus on “value, fun, and mission fulfillment.” Out of the 57 vehicles the magazine considered, the 2021 Supra sports car stood out thanks to its high quality and affordable fun.
Toyota added 47 horsepower to the Supra’s turbocharged 3.0L inline-six engine. The automaker also introduced a 2.0L four-cylinder capable of generating 255 horsepower for a new entry-level model.
The magazine lauded the 2021 Supra’s handling, and the editors were delighted to see that it could pull 1 g on a skidpad, which reflects its lateral acceleration to give you an idea of its cornering abilities and general handling.
Car and Driver admired the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission and the Supra’s fuel economy of 34 mpg on the highway.* Its 0-60 mph time of 3.8 seconds was another notable achievement and was surely a factor that helped earn a spot on the list.
