It’s spring-cleaning season, which means now is the perfect time to freshen up the interior of your Toyota SUV. Here are a few tips to help you spruce up your family vehicle’s cabin.
Carpet and seating
Need to whisk away dust, dirt, and crumbs? Grab your vacuum cleaner and its bristle brush attachment. This tool makes it easy to loosen and remove debris from your car’s upholstered surfaces. For cleaning out those hard-to-reach spots between seats, use the crevice tool.
If your family vehicle still isn’t as fresh as you’d like, consider using a steam cleaner or upholstery shampoo. Always test these products on a hidden area before applying them to the rest of your car’s interior, just to make sure they won’t damage or discolor the surface.
Leather
For leather surfaces, use a specialized leather cleaner, and follow up with a leather conditioner. And, no matter what kind of upholstery your vehicle has, avoid products containing bleach or hydrogen peroxide.
Hard surfaces
When wiping down your dashboard, buttons, and locks, it’s safe to use rubbing alcohol. A small paintbrush or toothbrush can help you clean out tight crevices. Lint-free microfiber cloths are also a great tool for detailing these types of surfaces.
Windows
For the windows, clean both the inside and outside with an alcohol-based glass cleaner. A chamois rag is a good, lint-free choice. Also, to avoid getting cleaner on your upholstery, remember to spray the rag, not the glass.
Touch-screen display
Infotainment screens are a magnet for grime, germs, and fingerprints. Most experts recommend lightly wiping down the screen with a microfiber cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol. Be sure to avoid ammonia-based cleaners since those can strip away the display’s anti-glare coating.
